What Is pCloud Revisions?
pCloud Revisions is a built-in file version history tool inside your pCloud account. It automatically saves an earlier copy every time you edit a file. Instead of losing work forever, you open pCloud Revisions and pull back any earlier draft. The feature works file by file, not folder by folder.
How to Use pCloud Revisions
Every time you save changes to a file stored in pCloud, the system stores the previous copy behind the scenes. Over time, this creates a running file version history for that document. You can then preview, compare, or restore any saved point.
Here’s how to use it:
- Log in at my.pcloud.com.
- Right-click the file you want to check.
- Select Revisions from the three dot menu.
- Browse earlier versions by date and time.
- Download or restore the version you need.
One caveat worth noting: pCloud Revisions currently works through the website only.
pCloud Revisions vs. Trash vs Rewind
pCloud actually offers three safety nets, and knowing which one to grab saves precious time. Trash recovers deleted items. Rewind restores your entire account to a past moment. pCloud Revisions, meanwhile, targets a single file’s history.

Reach for pCloud Revisions when you know exactly which file misbehaved. Switch to Rewind when the damage is broader, like a folder wiped by mistake. Together, these tools cover almost every recovery scenario.
Recovery Time
Standard retention is generous, but it isn’t unlimited.
Free accounts keep pCloud Revisions for 15 days.
Paid plans stretch that to 30 days.
If you want to stretch that period, you could purchase the Extended File History (EFH) add-on. It extends cloud storage recovery for Revisions, Trash, and Rewind alike to a full 365 days. One catch: EFH isn’t retroactive, so it only protects edits made after activation. Turning it on early beats needing it late.
A Quick Checklist
Before assuming your files are protected, run through this checklist:
✅ Confirm you can log in at my.pcloud.com, since Revisions is web-only for now.
✅ Test the feature on a low-stakes file to learn the workflow.
✅ Compare your plan’s retention window against how often you touch critical files.
✅ Consider Extended File History for contracts, financial records, or creative masters.
✅ Pair pCloud Revisions with regular Trash checks for full-account peace of mind.
