The date itself is significant because it commemorates the signing of the Convention 108 by the Council of Europe on January 28, 1981. Convention 108 was the first international treaty designed to protect individuals’ privacy and regulate the collection and use of personal data.
Today, Data Privacy Day is a kindly annual reminder for businesses, government agencies, and individuals alike to reevaluate their privacy policies, implement stronger data protection measures, and be vigilant about safeguarding personal information.
