pCloud Docs: Real-Time Collaboration for Every File in pCloud

Everything is a work in progress.

Ideas evolve. Plans change.  And comments become conversations. Think about the documents that start as a rough draft and turn into a finished proposal. Or the spreadsheets that can become the backbone of a project.

Behind such developments, one can be sure to find good collaboration which keeps the processes moving. According to Deloitte research, teams that collaborate effectively work 15% faster and produce 73% better work.

So why should your files be treated like static objects?

What is pCloud Docs?

With p Cloud Docs, you can create, edit, and collaborate on your files in real-time, directly inside pCloud. It’s our own suite of editors for documents, spreadsheets, presentations, PDFs, Markdown, and plain text. Every editor runs directly in your browser and saves straight back into your pCloud account. So there’s no need for a separate app or third-party converter.

That last point matters. Plenty of cloud editors ship your file to an outside conversion service just to render it. pCloud Docs, on the contrary, reads, edits, and writes each native file format with its own in-house engine. Your document never leaves pCloud’s infrastructure, and it never passes through a stranger’s server along the way.

Real-Time Collaboration

Open a supported document, share it with someone using the Invite to folder feature, and you’ll see their cursor moving as they type. Comments and cursors carry each person’s pCloud name and color. This way, everyone knows who’s in the file and what they’re doing. And every edit appears on your screen almost instantly.

The engine behind this trick is worth appreciating, even if you never think about it again. pCloud Docs merges simultaneous edits so cleanly that two people typing in the same paragraph never lose a single character. If one person bolds a word while another italicises it, both changes land. The word simply ends up bold and italic. This “party trick” works the same way in every editor.

One Editor for Every File

pCloud Docs isn’t a single editor pretending to speak every language. It’s six specialists, each fluent in exactly one format. Here’s the lineup.

Editor Native format Also opens Real-time collaboration
Documents .docx .pages, .odt Yes, plus comments and tracked changes
Spreadsheets .xlsx .ods, .numbers, .tsv (view-only, convert to edit) Yes, plus live formula recalculation
PDF .pdf Password-protected PDFs (with the password) Yes, plus annotations, redaction, and form filling
Presentations .pptx — Yes, across slides, shapes, and charts
Markdown .md — Yes, with live split-screen preview
Txt .txt — Yes, byte-perfect on every save

Comments Become Conversations

Editing rarely happens in a vacuum, so pCloud Docs keeps the conversation attached to the work. In Documents, Spreadsheets, and PDF, you can anchor a comment to a specific sentence, cell, or spot on a page. Colleagues reply underneath, and the thread stays put until someone resolves it.

Resolving a comment hides it rather than deleting it, so nothing valuable disappears. Reviewers can still dig up a resolved thread later if a decision is being questioned. Tracked changes in Documents work the same way. Every edit becomes a suggestion first, and the original author decides what sticks.

Ideas evolve because feedback lives right next to the content it describes.

Your Files Never Leave pCloud

Every pCloud Docs editor autosaves in the background, so you never hit a save button by accident, or forget to. A status indicator confirms “All changes saved” while you work. Closing the tab triggers one final save automatically. If your connection drops, your edits queue locally and sync the moment you’re back online.

Security gets а no-shortcuts treatment. Embedded macros are always stripped from Word and Excel files on upload. None of this asks you to trust a new company with your files. Your data stays inside the same pCloud storage account it always has, protected by the same infrastructure. pCloud Docs simply gives that cloud storage a live, collaborative front door.
